I had gone out in the city just for a quick sift through dusty books at the used book store, and get a cup of coffee at the local cafe. But even before I had even reached the store, I saw an interesting sight. A young girl was staring into a toy store. She seemed to be about fourteen years old, yet she had her hands pressed up against the flass like some small toddler. There could only be one way to describe her, and that was "peculiar". Some of the earliest memories I have is of me defending my mother, and keeping us both from standing out in the public eye. I was about four years old at the time. Mother and I was at the park. Holding hands, we swung our legs in every step. A plump woman, jogging in her red athletic clothes, came from the opposite direction on the path. A flabby, glowering bulldog, with painfully short legs, pattered by the woman's side. Mother instantly stopped. As the dull grumble of the bus engines escalated into a loud roar, I glanced up into the mirror again. Her skin, a pure pink-peachy color, was a beautiful contrast to her dark hair. I found myself staring at her yes, eyelashes, eyebrows, nose, lips -- every feature of her delicate face. For a moment, the girl flickered her eyes toward the mirror, then she brought her gaze out the side window again. It was quiet on the bus. My passengers were all sitting in their seats alone, no friends or children to talk too, and it felt like a blip in time. As if... time itself had stopped inside the bus, but it still flowed normally outside. As if... the only connection to the outer world was my hands, moving the wheel to accommodate the turnings of the road. This quietness was very sleepy. It made my mind hurt with the frustration of just sitting, and moving my hands. I would think random thoughts during these sleepy periods, both for entertainment, and for the sake of my job.
